Students have been involved in an exciting opportunity to feature in a new BBC Radio 4 Drama about a visually impaired school.

Written by Mandy Redvers-Rowe and Sarah McDonald Hughes, the radio drama 'Blind School' is written about Nina - a girl who is losing her sight and arrives at her new school. The play exposes all of Nina's ups and downs with her deteriorating vision, and adapting to her new environment.

“I volunteered along with several of my peers, and we practiced reading parts of the script as part of the audition so that our lines were fluent.

The next week, people from the BBC came to NCW and recorded us reading the script to see who best fit the brief.

I and several other students were chosen and the recordings took place over the next two days within NCW ground.

We were required to make background noise such as children in a classroom and students during a PE lesson, as well as having some spoken lines alongside the professional actors!

It was really exciting to work with a proper recording crew and actors, as I have always been interested in radio dramas from a young age. I hope that I will have the opportunity to do this again in the future.”

The radio drama ‘Blind School’ is set to be aired in February 2019, so more information will be shared soon!
