Grace wows Drama School

Sixth Form student Grace is celebrating this week after receiving an exciting offer to fulfil her dream at Drama School in September!

Rewind back to two weekends ago, and Grace was busy auditioning for a place at the Guildford School of Acting (GSA) – one of the most highly regarded theatre schools in the UK, and one which delivers world-class conservatoire training and research within a top university environment.

Grace is a Singer, Pianist and Songwriter, and is a high achieving student at NCW. Only recently did she gain a Distinction in her Musical Theatre exam – she was one of the first to undertake this exam, which is run by the London College of Music!

Nervous but ready for her GSA audition, Grace participated in a dance workshop with other applicants (a routine chosen by GSA), and had to perform a song of her choosing, execute a short act and showcase her talent on the piano to the panel.

After much thought and deliberation, Grace had decided upon Cabaret – ‘Maybe This Time’ as her song, a piece from Shakespeare’s ‘As You Like It’ for her act and played one her Grade Eight piano pieces.

It was a long day, and one for which Grace had been preparing for what felt like an eternity!

On Friday 29 March, Grace was so surprised to find out sooner than expected that she has been offered a conditional place at Guildford School of Acting!

Well done Grace!

Talking about her passion for Musical Theatre, Grace expressed: “I’ve always loved it, it is my ambition. I really want to get in to something where I am not cast as the blind person – that is what I want to achieve.”

Grace’s Drama Teacher at NCW, Mrs Jones, delighted: “It is extremely difficult to get into drama school straight from school and Grace has put in so much time, effort and work into these applications and auditions. What a result! I am so proud of her.”

Grace is also preparing for a second audition at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) this weekend – we wish you the best of luck, Grace!
