GCSE Residential Revision Course

This residential course supports students who are blind or vision impaired in Years 9, 10 and 11 with preparations for GCSEs.

Study sessions focus on Maths, English and Science and on study skills and exam technique. Evening activities are provided so that students have the opportunity to socialise, relax and have fun too!

As well as learning a range of skills to support their general learning, students will learn specific approaches to revision and exam techniques. Participants will have a choice of VI curriculum sessions (which include Independent Living Skills, Mobility, ICT and specialist Braille codes).

By the end of the course students will understand not only that there are others with the same issues, but that a vision impairment does not need to be a barrier to success. Students enjoy being one of a group, who work together to find their way around the college and socialise together.

Participants on the course will be offered accommodation in the residential houses on site and meals will be taken in the college dining room.

In the evenings the students can enjoy a range of activities such as tandem riding and ten pin bowling, making new friends and sharing experiences.

The event runs from 1.30pm on Wednesday 6 April to 1pm Friday 8 April.

Food and refreshments are included in the cost of the day. Parents of a child who is vision impaired can attend for free one of the charged NCW outreach courses per school year.
