Explore, Discover, Experiment! Holiday Club

Are you excited by fizz? Does a challenge intrigue you? Do you enjoy investigating?

If so, come along to our club, bring a friend, sibling or parent to explore with you.

Suitable for young people with a vision impairment in Key Stage 2 or above. The club will be held remotely on Google Meet – we will send you a code to access the club when you book. The club is being run by Mrs Ridley.

Week 1: Wednesday 22nd July

Volcanic Eruption!

You will need to have ready:

  • Newspaper
  • Damp sand or soil (enough to pile around the bottle)
  • Small bottle (200ml or 330ml)
  • Vinegar
  • Tomato ketchup
  • Bicarbonate of soda
  • Tablespoon

Week 2: Wednesday 29th July

Do eggs float? Can you make an egg bounce? Can you lift an ice cube with a piece of thread?


You will need to have ready:

  • Glass jam jar (large enough so the egg fits into it)
  • 1 x uncooked egg
  • 1 x hard boiled egg (with the shell on)
  • Lots of salt
  • Vinegar
  • Tablespoon
  • Teaspoon
  • Ice cube
  • Glass of water
  • Piece of sewing thread

Week 3: Wednesday 5th August

Who can build the tallest tower? Does a balloon always pop when you stick a needle into it?

You will need to have ready:

  • Straws and marshmallows or 6 sheets of newspaper
  • a few inflated balloons
  • needle
  • sticky tape

Week 4: Wednesday 12th August
