The Mile Trials!

Posted 20th March 2019 | Category: Fundraising Events

Mile Trials – New Sponsored Challenge for to support young people who are blind or partially sighted.

New College Worcester are looking for teams of 4 to enter an exciting sponsored challenge in their new multi-purpose gym on Saturday 27th April – The Mile Trials. We are asking participants to run, row and ride and see how far their team can go in 2 hours! There are prizes for the team who cover the longest distance!

Kevin Hateley, Head of Fundraising at NCW said, “It promises to be a really fun event and a great team builder. We'll provide everyone with a goody bag, kindly donated by Asda – Worcester and everyone will receive a personalised completion certificate. All the sponsorship raised is so valuable and will help to transform young lives. For example, it could help pay for specialist equipment to enable students to prepare their own snacks and meals and live independently or could help pay for mobility training, ensuring students can travel safely and with confidence.”

Hannah has signed up to the Mile Trials and said, "I'm looking forward to challenging myself in a team environment in this brand new event, but also getting involved in raising funds for the college which is providing so many life changing opportunities for it's students!”

NCW have joined forces with Blind Veterans UK to bring the ultimate challenge to Worcester! Raise money for either charity, and test yourself to your limits!

Fire walking is great way to achieve something new and raise money for Blind Veterans UK or New College Worcester at the same time! We are looking for daredevils of all ages (8 years +) to face their fears and walk a short distance (15 feet) across smoldering hot coals. Some people say they feel the heat through their soles; others say it feels freezing cold – have a go for yourself and see which one you feel.Whichever one it is, it certainly won’t be a feeling you’ll forget.

Sounds For Pounds!

Local Indie Rock covers band Nothing But Animals are performing live on Saturday 1st April alongside NCW students at a fundraiser to raise funds for the new Youth Club.

Nothing But Animals

The band comprises Ryan on Vocals and Bass Guitar, Jack on Guitar and Backing Vocals, Jake on Drums and Casper on Guitar – all students at The Chantry School in Martley who have been together since 2015. The band will perform 3 short sets, interspersed with performances from NCW students Grace, Sean, Ben, Jack, Tobias, Michael, Carys and the NCW Jazz Band.

Staff and students at NCW have been working hard to transform an area of the College into a fun new Youth Club. The concert is raising funds to purchase equipment for the new area, so that the students have a relaxing chill out place to enjoy after school and at weekends.

The concert is being held in the Learning Resource Centre and is open to all with tickets available on the door, which opens at 6.45pm, priced at £4 for adults and £2 under 16s. Refreshments will be available.
