New Age Kurling Students

NCW students battled it out for the New Age Kurling champion title on Friday 19 October!

New Age Kurling is a relatively new inclusive sport, which can be played by people of all abilities. Participants play kurling stones along the floor towards a circular target. The objective is to get closest to the centre circle it is a game of accuracy and control as teams seek to get closer than or knock their opponent out.

Some of our Year 8 students along with PE Teacher Mrs Wallcroft, were delighted to be invited along to Regency High School to take part in the New Age Kurling competition on 19 October. NCW played games against local schools Regency, Christopher Whitehead and Tudor Grange.

Mrs Wallcroft supported the team by placing herself behind the target and clapping, to enable NCW team members to get an accurate shot.

Mrs Wallcroft congratulated the students: “With all of the noise and distraction from other games taking place in the sports hall, NCW students really focused and did very well. Rico was very accurate, both Daniel and Carys were consistent, Finn really enjoyed himself and Keira was extremely tactical, knocking the opponent’s stone out of the way each time!”

After a tough few games and to our teams’ surprise, they succeeded in claiming the title and winning the competition! Brilliant news and well done to all of you!

The team will now be entered in to the regional Worcestershire School Games – how exciting! More information on this will be shared soon.
