New College Worcester (NCW), Whittington Road, Worcester, WR5 2JX
As the mental health of our youngsters nationally is being recognised as a key priority for all concerned with education, so the well-being of our students at NCW is paramount.
We want all of our students to be able to succeed both academically and socially. When mental health becomes mental ill-health, it is very difficult for youngsters to focus on their learning and see a long term reason for studying hard – in the hope of future success. This is true of all youngsters. For children and young people with a visual impairment, there is an even greater threat, as they reach adolescence and come to terms with often degenerating eye sight.
For this reason, the Pupil Premium funding available to students at NCW will be used to develop a strategic approach to mental health, where identification is timely and high-quality support for mental health is available to all students who need it.
