News > Rising to the Challenge in Outcomes Week!

The whole College took part in a series of challenges this week to help build confidence and resilience. Following workshops on team-building and resilience on Sunday and Monday, everyone split into groups on Tuesday and travelled to Worcester city centre to visit shops, businesses and information centres to collate their own tourist information guide. The challenges were designed to place the students outside their comfort zone, to experience real life difficulties and potential disappointments and to develop coping strategies in order to prepare for life beyond education in the real world.

First Worcester kindly provided transport for the students, and any student who missed the bus had to pay out of their team’s budget for alternative transport! The students gathered information and took pictures to put together their tourist information guide, which they then had to write about and present to the rest of the College. The teams could also use their budget to buy resources and administration support to help put together their written work and presentations.

Great thanks to all the students and staff for their hard work, it was an invaluable experience for everyone concerned. Especially well done to the students, who went outside their comfort zones and certainly rose to the challenge!
