The Vision Factory, local Worcester Opticians, is kindly supporting New College Worcester in our Sensory Garden Project!

In a courtyard area of the college that was previously never used, we have launched a garden project to create a multi-sensory experience for students.

The garden is still in the early stages of being created, but once complete will allow students to get outside and get stuck in with the various elements – whether that be helping to water plants during lunch time or simply taking some time to think in the peaceful surroundings.

The project will also be a great opportunity for students to get involved in gardening themselves, and can be combined with learning and the school curriculum.

Kevin Hateley, Head of Fundraising stated, “We’re really grateful to Vision Factory as it will be amazing for the students to have such a wonderful, calm but stimulating environment. It will appeal to all the senses and will include plants that can be touched and smelled, fruit and vegetables to be tasted and wind chimes that can be heard”.

The Vision Factory have set themselves a goal of raising £2000, and to help towards this goal, they are donating 10% of all their sales.

Bimal, one of the partners of Vision Factory explained why he is so passionate about this project, “I have been manufacturing glasses for many years and more recently making glasses directly for the customer. I want to make a positive difference and New College Worcester deserves all the support they can get”.
