Diversity Awards

Sixth Form student Liam has won a prestigious award at The National Diversity Awards in Manchester.

The National Diversity Awards, a glamorous black tie event, celebrates the achievements, dedication and hard work that positive role models, charities and community organisations do on a daily basis.

The event was held at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, hosted by Brian Dowling, and included several award categories including positive role model, community organisation and entrepreneurial of excellence awards. Liam was one of three shorted listed for the Positive Role Model for Disability.

Liam was nominated for the award for his work within the VI community as he has raised an estimated £150,000 for VI charities. Liam has also had two poetry books published in print, large print, Braille and audio, has gone around the country giving speeches for the charity living paintings and has co-run volunteer training courses with The Children’s Society to teach volunteers who want to work with disabled children.

Liam was presented with his award by Paralympian Jody Cundy and said afterwards,

“I really wasn’t expecting to win, I’m in shock! I’m just so pleased and proud to have won.”
