Inspiring, nurturing and empowering young people with a vision impairment.

A day to remember for families visiting NCW

On Saturday 15 October, NCW held it’s second Family Day event of the year – a fun, free event for families and young people with vision impairment.

Family Day is a great opportunity for families to get involved in lots of different activities that are accessible to VI young people. The day included sensory Science, tandem riding, a silent disco, Pampered Ponies, VI Football, bouncy castle, water zorbing and lots more!

Experienced teaching staff were available to speak to families about braille, access technology, mobility, and there were many hands on activities happening in Independent Living Skills.

In addition, Nathan Davies from HCB Group was invited to talk to families about advocacy and the student journey to NCW, and charities such as VICTA, Guide Dogs, Sight Concern were on hand to offer advice and information.

Once again, the day ran really successfully with lots of happy, smiling families attending and enjoying what NCW had to offer. Many young people were able to experience activities that they hadn’t tried before!

Our next Family Day is on Monday 1 May 2023.
