NCW Stages a Bold, Darkly Magical Production
Last half term, NCW was delighted to bring “Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy… Really!” to the college stage — a daring, atmospheric and thought‑provoking reimagining of the classic gothic tale.
This year’s production marked a dramatic shift from previous shows; we traded the bright “Summer Nights” of Grease for the eerie shadows and swirling mist of Whitby, where Count Dracula’s chilling presence tests the boundaries of fear, courage and identity.
With a blend of humour, horror and clever reinterpretation, the piece invited audiences to rethink the characters they thought they knew — and to consider themes of power, agency, vulnerability and revenge through a modern lens.
A Triumph for the NCW Performing Arts Community
The production brought together students across year groups, supported by a dedicated creative team who ensured every rehearsal, design choice and performance moment reflected the spirit of the play.
From atmospheric soundscapes to imaginative staging and bold character work, the cast and crew created a world that was both chilling and captivating — and the response from audiences was overwhelmingly enthusiastic.
This show stands as a testament to what NCW students can achieve when they are encouraged to take risks, explore challenging material and support one another through the creative process. Well done Students!
