24 hours of strength and support: fundraising challenge at NCW!

Peter, our amazing school therapist, and Millie, one of our incredible Sixth Form students, took on a huge challenge in support of New College Worcester (NCW) and Alström Syndrome UK – a 24-hour exercise marathon featuring 24 different activities in just 24 hours!

From 7.30pm Sunday 22nd June through to 7.30pm on Monday 23rd, the unstoppable duo powered through day and night, completing everything from rowing to football, raising awareness and vital funds to support students with vision impairment and a rare condition, Alström Syndrome. The entire NCW community rallied behind them, with students, staff, families, and supporters cheering them on throughout the challenge.

“It was tough, but so worth it,” said Peter. “Millie’s determination and positivity kept us both going. We wanted to do something that showed how much we care about the students here and what’s possible when we come together.”

Millie described the challenge as a rollercoaster. “It started off easy, but at around 2:30am I really hit a wall—I was struggling to stay awake,” he said. “My favourite part was doing weights, which I really enjoy. Going outside at sunrise to play football gave me such a boost, and seeing people come to support us near the end was amazing. I was absolutely buzzing after we finished—so much adrenaline! I felt that rush right through until Wednesday. It felt so good to achieve what I set out to do.”

Peter and Millie have already raised an incredible £758 through their efforts. Everyone at NCW is incredibly proud of Peter and Millie for their dedication, energy, and heart. A special thanks also goes to Waitrose on London Road for their support in providing food and drink throughout the challenge.

The funds raised will go directly towards enriching student life at NCW and supporting the work of Alström Syndrome UK—helping to provide specialist equipment, experiences, and opportunities for young people to thrive.
