NCW is delighted to announce a generous donation from a member of the Worshipful Company of Lightmongers, dedicated to funding First Aid for Mental Health training for staff and students over the next three years.
This valuable contribution will support the development of practical skills and knowledge across the NCW community, enabling staff and students to recognise the signs of mental health issues, respond appropriately, and offer timely support. With many young people at NCW facing additional challenges as a result of vision impairment, mental health support is an essential pillar of the care and education they receive.
“We are incredibly grateful for this long-term support,” said Paul Stephens, Assistant Principal, Personal Development. “Training staff and students in mental health first aid helps create a safer, more supportive environment where wellbeing is everyone’s responsibility.”
NCW provides a specialist learning environment for blind and visually impaired young people, offering a holistic education that includes dedicated support for emotional and mental wellbeing. This donation ensures the school can continue embedding a whole-community approach to mental health, building confidence and resilience at every level.
“To receive a commitment that spans three years is both humbling and hugely impactful,” added Paul Stephens. “This donor recognises that empowering people to understand and respond to mental health needs is a vital step in building a thriving, inclusive community.”
The Worshipful Company of Lightmongers has been a long-standing supporter of NCW, and this personal act of giving is yet another example of the compassion and foresight shown by its members.
