We are delighted to report that we have now completed phase 2 of the refurbishment work on our Sixth Form accommodation, Vinchel Lodge.

This latest phase focused on transforming the central part of the building, continuing our commitment to creating bright, accessible and inclusive living spaces for students who are blind or vision impaired.

The work has included the refurbishment of upper-floor bedrooms, which were previously twin rooms and have now been converted into spacious single bedrooms, each with its own ensuite shower and bath. The whole unit has been reconfigured and redecorated, featuring new kitchen areas designed with accessibility in mind to support the independence and confidence of our students.

Every element of the refurbishment has been carefully planned and adapted to meet the sensory and functional needs of our students, ensuring that Vinchel Lodge continues to be a warm, welcoming and empowering environment for all who live there.

This phase of work has been made possible thanks to the generous funding and pledges from the Edward Cadbury Trust, The Kildare Trust, The Vinchel Foundation and the Bernard Sunley Foundation.

We are incredibly grateful for their support, which has helped us continue to provide exceptional facilities that promote learning, independence and wellbeing for our students.

Looking ahead, we now have the final phase of refurbishment planned. Subject to funding, this final stage will see the whole of Vinchel Lodge completely modernised, ensuring that the entire building meets the highest standards of accessibility, inclusion, comfort and design — a space that truly reflects the potential and aspirations of our students.
