Just before Christmas, our students embarked on an unforgettable adventure to the stunning Italian Alps for an incredible skiing experience!
The group stayed in the beautiful ski resort of Sauze D’Oulx, where excitement was in the air. On the first day, students were fitted with all the essential gear – skis, boots and helmets – and introduced to the fantastic specialist instructors from Seable, who were ready to guide them every step of the way. Seable are specialists in accessible tailored holidays for the VI community and partner with one of the best ski schools for visually impaired people in Europe.
All the students did incredibly well and managed to progress all the way to the top of the mountain. Despite the snow not being at its best this year, their determination and enthusiasm were outstanding – they really did NCW proud. What made this achievement even more inspiring is that students did not let their vision impairment stand in the way of tackling the slopes and reaching the summit. Their resilience and confidence shone through, proving that with the right support and mindset, anything is possible.
Phil Bresnen - Activities Leader
The ski trip has really boosted Liv’s confidence in trying new activities. Liv thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and it was an opportunity that she otherwise wouldn’t have had. Thank you to everyone involved in arranging the trip and to all the staff that went along. Liv loved it so much she is already asking us if she can go again this year!
Louise Wood - Parent
I am always so humbled by the trust the students have in us when we take them skiing. And always amazed at the progress they make in such a short period of time. This year was no different with every student making it up to the top of the mountain and skiing the long run back down to base.
Jane Price - Head of PE
This trip was not only about skiing; it was about building independence, confidence and unforgettable memories in a truly spectacular setting.
