New College Worcester (NCW), a national residential school for young people who are blind or vision impaired, is celebrating some wonderful news — Tilly the school dog has officially qualified as a therapy dog.
After months of dedicated training, Tilly has achieved her therapy dog status, bringing an added layer of support and wellbeing to students and staff across the school community.
Tilly, a Labrador and Cocker Spaniel cross, is already a much-loved member of NCW. Her calm nature, friendly temperament and eagerness to engage with students have made her a familiar and welcome presence around the school.
Alongside Tilly’s intensive therapy dog training, Mr Stephens and Mrs Denman have also successfully qualified as Therapy Dog Handlers. Their commitment and hard work have helped ensure Tilly can provide safe, structured and meaningful interactions that support students’ wellbeing.
This achievement marks an exciting milestone for NCW, further enhancing the supportive and inclusive environment the school provides. Tilly’s presence will continue to offer comfort, companionship and enrichment to the NCW community, making a positive difference to daily school life.
