A celebration for NCW Leavers 2021

Written by Sixth Form student Amy.

Leavers. It is one of the biggest events of the year – filled with laughter, excitement and celebrating the end of the school year. And what a year it has been! A time for students and staff to put on their best outfits and relax. Traditionally the leavers celebration is held off site, however due to the ongoing restrictions, Leavers was held on site. Although it must be said that this did not deter attendees from making the best of the night!

The evening kicked off with students getting ready – make up being put on and hairs styled to perfection, it can be said that the students don’t brush up to badly. Photos taken, the evening officially started.

First came the meal heartily enjoyed by all; onsite caterers Host did such a great job. During the meal, students cast votes for Prom King and Queen so that the nominations could be counted in time for the awards. The LAFTA awards are a set of categories where students are nominated by others; some categories this year include;
Most likely to lead a protest, Kindest, Most likely to be a Bond villain and many more. A well done to all who received an award!

Dancing followed the awards with music chosen by the students, and what had previously been the dining area was transformed into a dancefloor so students and staff could cut footloose. Drinks flowed and the evening ended at around midnight with students heading back to the houses.

It is safe to say there must have been some sore throats and headaches the next day – but worth it for the fun that was had the night before!

Good luck to our leaving students.
