This week, the MFL Department not only celebrated the European Day of Languages but also went big and celebrated world languages all week!
This week, Head of MFL Señora Molina has emailed students each day a fun fact to quiz their language knowledge. Some facts were true, and some were false. Students were encouraged to research which ones are true and which are false.
Eighteen students answered the questions right each day and today they were treated to some home-cooked authentic delights to celebrate their achievements! Students and staff gathered into Señora Molina’s classroom and enjoyed Spanish “rosquillas” (made by Señora Molina using her Grandmother’s recipe) and some Spanish hot chocolate. Needless to say, they went down a treat!

MFL at NCW is widely celebrated. We feel passionately that learning a foreign language enriches the curriculum and provides students with excitement, enjoyment and challenge. When we introduce students to the languages and cultures of others we help to create an environment in which they learn to respect the diversity of the society and the world in which we live.
This summer all students that took their FCSE in German and French achieved a Distinction or Merit. The three A Level student studying German or Spanish also did amazingly and achieved grades A-C.
Mr Stark, Assistant Principal spent an hour in the MFL department this week observing lessons and said, “best hour of my week – it was amazing!”
