Tesco Community Champions visited NCW and talked about experiences of shopping and how to make the store more accessible.

In May, two senior students had the great honour of attending the May Court Dinner of the Worshipful Company of Lightmongers at the Tallow Chandlers Hall in central London.

Recognised for her outstanding 46 years of service to Education and Special Education, Mrs Barter, Head of Religious Education at NCW, was invited to a very special garden party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate.

In January, Worcestershire County Council launched a competition to create a banner design to commemorate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The competition received over 200 entries from young people all over Worcestershire!

Retinoblastoma is a type of eye cancer which can most commonly be found in babies and young children and is often spotted by having a white pupil. The condition can cause people to lose one or both eyes, and has significant psychological and physical impact.

From 9 – 15 May, the UK will be celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week – a week which aims to inspire action to promote messages of good mental health for everyone. The event has continued to grow each year with more and more focus being put on to mental health, and is now one of the biggest awareness weeks across the UK!

On Monday 2 May, NCW held it’s bi-annual Family Day – a fun, free event for families and young people with vision impairment.

Students have been keeping busy over the Easter holidays, not just eating chocolate, but practising and refining their Independent Living Skills (ILS)! 

Physics guru and Head of Science, Mr Stark, has been recognised and awarded as Teacher of the Year at the Worcestershire Education Awards 2022!
