The NCW Business department believe that our subject should provide the knowledge and skills to enable our students to function effectively in today’s society.  Options chosen provide students with the opportunity to understand and appreciate the news and how what is happening today shapes the future, alongside analysing the key events of recent years.  Students also appreciate that different news sources present a different picture of what is happening and learn to be selective.  At KS4, they have opportunities to read about both current events and those in the past.  For students who choose to continue their studies this is developed in more detail in KS5.  Accessing news on the internet is another skill which is practised.  The business context is an important element of answering exam questions.
