The NCW History department believes that our subject should provide the knowledge and skills to enable our students to function effectively in today’s society.
Options chosen provide students with the opportunity to understand and appreciate the wide range of cultural influences that have shaped their own heritage and that of others.
Students learn about the nature of evidence to develop skills in discriminating between all the sources of information which bombard us in the 21st century.
At KS3, students are building up the knowledge and skills to provide a good grounding for KS4. At KS4, they have opportunities to investigate and interpret the past, develop their chronological understanding, and build an overview of Britain’s past and that of the wider world, as well as being able to communicate historically.
